Beyond the award-winning slopes, Zermatt, Switzerland, is a culinary haven with some of the hottest dining destinations in the world. From a new Champagne bar and a Michelin Green Star brasserie to the city’s first seafood restaurant, bring this culinary guide with you on your trip to this Swiss destination.
On the fourth floor of Mont Cervin Palace lies the one-Michelin-starred Capri restaurant. Helmed by chef Vincenzo Tedeschi, guests are treated to decadent southern Italian cooking with particular focus on traditions from Campania and flavors of the Mediterranean. Highlights include crunchy lobster with green apple, basil and fennel; taglioni with red prawns, burrata, sea asparagus and lemon; and risotto with Neapolitan ragout, meatballs and saffron.
Elsie’s Wine and Champagne Bar
This wood-paneled wine and Champagne bar harkens back to the Roaring 20s, where first-class wines and Champagnes are served alongside a small, refined selection of international and Swiss delicacies like escargot and lobster spaghetti.

Located within Zermatt’s Schweizerhof Hotel, guests will find this restaurant serving up a creative fusion of Peruvian and Asian cuisines. Named after a medicinal plant in the Andes, La Muña’s standouts include homemade gyozas, vegan ceviche, and yuzu salmon with lime and coriander. Don’t forget to try a cocktail, too, with innovative concoctions like the Red Caipirinha with pomegranate sure to leave you wanting more.
Shaking things up in Zermatt is Brasserie Uno, a newcomer focused on local, seasonal produce as the stars of many dishes. Not only does the restaurant have three gardens from which it sources its produce, but it also earned a Michelin Green Star for its commitment to sustainability. The restaurant recycles food waste, serves food on vintage bowls and plates, and has staff describe menus as opposed to printing them off. For the ultimate dining experience, try Brasserie Uno’s six-course tasting menu.

Mont Cervin Palace’s newest dining destination, Le Restaurant, marks Zermatt’s first seafood restaurant. Drawing inspiration from French-Mediterranean flavors and cooking techniques, highlights include bisque de homard and Navarin lobster. Diners are also treated to an opulent atmosphere of oak-clad walls and sparkling chandeliers. Le Restaurant boasts a 34-page wine list spotlighting Riesling and Chasselas, as well as other regional grape varieties.
Situated next to the ski slopes, this community-centric restaurant within a remodeled, bilevel chalet not only includes a great restaurant but also a coffee roastery, restaurant, ceramics studio, and weekly classes and events. Whether you’re here to try some 14-day cured pastrami salad or take part in a yoga class elsewhere in the chalet, it’s a great place to go before or after hitting the slopes. Other Areloid Restaurant highlights include crispy confit duck leg and many vegetarian and vegan options.

Created by three female entrepreneurs, Manud embodies that warm, welcoming atmosphere needed after a day in the cold. This café-style eatery serves breakfast and Asian-influenced lunch and dinner. Try the tom kha curry, Thai cabbage salads and tofu banh mi. There are also to-go options like natural wine, coffee from Zürich’s Blasercafé and Swiss gin.

Mindful drinking with an eye on wellness can mean ordering a zero-proof or low ABV cocktail instead of one that’s boozy and stirred, or slowly savoring one glass of wine instead of tossing back two or three. But sometimes, where you’re sipping a beverage can have just as much of a positive effect on your mind, body and spirit as what’s in your glass.

Apr 30, 2025Relais Villa Porta Review
Tucked into a Lake Maggiore enclave overlooking the Gulf of Colmegna, Relais Villa Porta is an idyllic place to take in a side of the Italian Lakes region that’s different from buzzy Lake Como during high season. In 1820, it was built as a hunting lodge, and by the end of the century, was transformed into an inn by Leopoldo Casnedi. Over time, the surrounding parkland was further enhanced with rare plants collected by Pietro Porta, its second owner and botanist, as well as regular guests wanting to support his efforts. This ensured the inn would ultimately sit pretty within a 10,000-square-meter park surrounding the main villa, a 19th-century Liberty-style greenhouse and original Villa Porta mosaic.
