A town rich in heritage and history, Santa Rosalia is the most recent town in Baja California Sur given the Pueblo Magico or “magic town” designation by the Mexican government. This designation is a mark of excellence signifying the town’s beauty and historical importance. The title also notes the town as a worthy destination of exploration.
Santa Rosalia is among the 45 new inductees added to the list this month. The town offers a bit of something for every traveler: Adventurers can explore the beautiful coastline and beaches by snorkeling, fishing or even scuba diving. Near the town lies the Sierra de la Giganta Mountain range, a perfect setting for hiking, biking and wildlife viewing.

The town was established by French miners and, as such, boasts a lengthy history. Structures like Santa Barbara Church point to a rich history with its striking iron façade. The historic mining district of El Triunfo offers visitors a glimpse into the past when the town thrived as a mining settlement.
Because of its designation as a Pueblo Magico, Santa Rosalia receives increased support and investment from the Mexican government to preserve and promote its historical, cultural and natural assets.

Last year’s event surpassed that of 2023, so we have big shoes to fill for 2025.
