Individually, each Art Hotels Ecuador property contains no more than 30 rooms and, within all of them, the ethos is the same: to passionately and authentically mix old with new and create an artistic, creative approach to luxury hospitality.

Each boutique property in the Art Hotels portfolio in Ecuador features heartfelt local experiences for guests to participate in, where visitors come face to face with those who hold on to Ecuadorian traditions and who are, in essence, safekeepers of the culture. Local artists will take visitors into their private worlds to observe, up close, the methods they still use proudly, and the respect about the land they love.

Located in the historic downtown neighborhood of Cuenca, Ecuador’s cultural capital, Hotel Cruz del Vado is one of the most important colonial houses in this beautiful city. Its pink marble façade is an example of the luxurious lifestyle enjoyed in the colonial era. The hotel lies in El Vado, Cuenca’s oldest neighborhood and an essential part of the Cultural Heritage of Humanity, a UNESCO designation. Many handicrafts, religious representations and historical architecture make this neighborhood in Cuenca an iconic part of the city.

In Quito, the political capital of Ecuador, Hotel Mama Cuchara embodies the revival of a Spanish-colonial house into a luxurious boutique hotel exuding comfort and elegance. Hotel Mama Cuchara is a rated UNESCO building within the UNESCO World Heritage Historic Center. The property sits within walking distance from many of the city’s most popular historical sites.
The city of Otavalo, best known for Los Ponchos market, is a must-see destination in Ecuador as it hosts South America’s largest Andean fair of artisanal handicrafts and textiles. The Hotel Otavalo by Art Hotels is one of the oldest buildings in the city. Recently refurbished, the history of the city can be seen through the building materials used for its construction more than a century ago, creating the sensation of being in a castle within the city.

May 14, 2025Hotel Van Zandt Review
One step onto Austin’s Rainey Street and you’ll feel like you’ve joined the cool kids at the best playground in the city. Just behind the cottage bars, pint-sized skyscrapers soar. One of them, Hotel Van Zandt, the Rainey district's pièce de resistance, beckons with a song-like spirit —apropos because the independently owned property, rife with music motifs, was named after beloved singer-songwriter Townes Van Zandt. Sixteen stories high, the hotel embodies Austin’s lust for music, manifesting with a vinyl corner; trumpet chandeliers; myriad musical references; replica vintage posters in frames; and its own live music venue, which doubles as its acclaimed restaurant, Geraldine’s. Don’t miss the mesmerizing installation of colorful origami-like birds composed from vinyl records that flitter from an old phonograph.
