During my stay at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, I dined at the resort’s steakhouse American Cut. The stylish space is dimly lit with leather seating and dark, rich wood accents.
I dined with a group and we all shared several menu items. I ordered a pre-dinner cocktail, Misty Mountain Hop, with gin, aloe vera, mint, elderflower tonic and cucumber. It was a refreshing start to the meal. One of my favorite steakhouse dishes is a seafood tower, so I was thrilled when American Cut’s version arrived to the table. It included oysters, clams, shrimp and lump crab with cocktail sauce. Following the light seafood starter, I switched to wine and enjoyed a glass of Sauvignon Blanc with my meal.

Dishes arrived to the table as they were prepared. From the appetizer section, we enjoyed a crab cake with remoulade and slaw, double-smoked bacon with a whiskey glaze, and a wagyu meatball with ricotta. Each appetizer offered different flavor profiles. While all were delicious, I would most likely order the meatball again.

My eyes were bigger than my stomach during the appetizer course and I felt full before the main courses arrived. I made sure to sample the rest of the dishes, as they all looked quite tempting! The entrées included steak, pork chops and halibut with sides of Brussels sprouts, macaroni and cheese, mushrooms and mashed potatoes. The halibut was the most surprising dish. It was prepared in a seafood broth with shellfish and fennel.
American Cut is a true crowd pleaser. The restaurant offers steakhouse classics alongside inventive dishes, perfect for diners with a variety of palates. Make sure you book a reservation, as the restaurant fills up quickly.

Apr 2, 2025What’s New in Luxury Travel in Rome
Rome has always been a destination for art, history and culture, but, until recently, true luxury hospitality in the Eternal City was surprisingly limited. Five-star hotels existed, but the selection was small, often traditional and rarely pushed the boundaries of modern luxury. That’s changing fast. In 2025, a wave of new openings, high-profile renovations and bold hospitality concepts redefines what it means to stay in Rome. According to Mayor Roberto Gualtieri, Rome’s hotel occupancy far exceeds the European average, and Rome responded by investing more than 450 million euros in the city’s hotels in 2024 to meet the growing demand for exceptional experiences. Last month, I attended the inaugural edition of RISE Rome, a premier event dedicated to the city’s luxury hospitality sector, to catch up on the latest updates and newest trends shaping the city. Here are highlights from some of the city’s top stays.
