Mississippi boasts several stunning courses ranging in difficulty. With 53 percent of golf tourism growth originating in North America in the past two years, travelers and golf enthusiasts visiting the Magnolia State should pay a visit to some of these top golf courses.

Mossy Oak Golf Club

One of the newer courses in the state, it opened late last year, receiving non-stop attention ever since. Named for the nearby camouflage giant Mossy Oak, architect Gil Hanse, best known for his design of the 2016 Rio Olympics course, worked to create this gorgeous golf course.

The Refuge

With 18 holes spanning more than 200 acres of natural wetlands, oak groves and pine trees, guests will feel as if they have discovered paradise. The Refuge lies just 15 minutes outside of downtown Jackson in Flowood.

The Preserve

Located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, this well-maintained course invites travelers to play a round. Designed by Jerry Pate, the course is a Certified Silver Audubon International Signature Sanctuary. The course features a unique pitcher plant bog, and all golf carts come with GPS.

Shell Landing

Known for its rolling hills and friendly staff, this challenging course lies in Gautier, offering an affordable golfing experience for all. The course boasts beautiful waterfront views and The Landing Bar and Grill, open to both the public and golfers.

Olive Branch

First opened in 1996, this Memphis-based course has grown in popularity over the years. Considered one of the state’s best golf courses, the staff remains dedicated to keep the course maintained.

Tunica National Golf & Tennis

Designed by Mark McCumber, Tunica National Golf & Tennis aims at making guests feel as if they are within a private club. With a course challenging enough to attract professionals, the casual golfer can also enjoy a playable experience.

Grand Bear Golf Club

Found 6 miles into DeSoto National Forrest, the spread-out nature of the course provides guests with a seemingly private golf experience. No two holes parallel another, and homes, roads and other distractions lie far enough away for guests to enjoy the natural sounds of their surroundings. The course, a Nicklaus design, abuts towering pines and cypress wetlands. In addition to the area’s natural beauty, superior customer service, from bag drop at arrival to a friendly farewell, await guests.

The Dogwoods

Maintained by the City of Grenada, this municipal course holds the title of “America’s Best New Bargain” by Golf Digest. Designed by Gary Roger Baird of Golf Global Design, the course is named for the elegant dogwood trees surrounding the grounds.

Find Inner Peace in India, the Birthplace of Yoga

How far would you travel in pursuit of inner peace? Though the wellness industry has grown in popularity for quite a while, he business skyrocketed post-pandemic, with more and more travelers booking yoga retreats in the name of serenity, spirituality and, of course, self-care. When I decided it was zen I sought, I figured I should travel to its very birthplace: India. Though the idea of traveling in India initially felt more exciting than relaxing, I found the contrast between the bustling activity outside and the quiet reflection of my yoga practice to be an intoxicating combination.

Australia’s Amazing Gold Coast Buzzes with Family-Friendly Activities

In Springbrook National Park, about 90 minutes south of Brisbane, the sky is aglow. But this isn’t the sort of glittery glimmer I expected from Australia’s buzzy Gold Coast. I’d heard about the sun-dappled beaches framed with scintillating sand, the sunscreen-slathered bodies at play, the way the ocean water whirls with what looks like bits of gold dust, the amusement parks, the meter maids clad in bikinis, and the high-rise hotels with their reflective-mirrored windows and popular bars that blare tunes beside the waves. Before arriving at what I imagined to look a bit like Miami’s South Beach in places (and it does along the coast in parts), I hadn’t focused much on thoughts of ancient trees, rugged outback and night skies luminous with glowworms. This nighttime nature foray, however, shows me another version of the Gold Coast ... one where nocturnal safaris veritably light up my life.
