Dinosaurs are everywhere at Brookfield Zoo, and we saw them all. “Dinos Everywhere,” featuring 40 animated dinosaurs located on the zoo grounds, entertained us all, especially my two-year-old grand niece, Delaney.
Included in the exhibit is Argentinosaurus, the largest, estimated to measure more than 100 feet in length and weigh up to 110 tons. Dinosaur footprints lead you along the path and were a big hit with young Delaney. There were also several dinosaur bones on display that fascinated Delaney and us older folks, too.
Created by Jurassic Park advisor Don Lessum, “Dinos Everywhere” is on loan from Dino Don, Inc. and The Wildlife Conservation Society. The “Dinos Everywhere” exhibit runs through October.
Brookfield Zoo will be open every day for the rest of the year. While some features are currently closed, like indoor animal exhibits, play areas, rides and other places where social distancing is impossible, there are plenty of other points of interest. Reservations, assigning you a specific entry time, are required. Masks are required upon entry and anywhere when social distancing is not possible.
Among other fun events at Brookfield Zoo is a virtual run ending September 6. While you can’t run past giraffes, tigers and more within the zoo, you can run past the cute squirrels and birds in your neighborhood to raise money to help support the Chicago Zoological Society Animal Care and Conservation Fund.
There are Community Tree Trim Days in November followed by Holiday Magic, which starts November 27. In its 39th year, Holiday Magic is Chicagoland’s largest and longest-running lights festival. More than one million lights, a 41-foot-tall tree, and LED animal sculptures turn Brookfield Zoo into a winter wonderland.

Apr 18, 2025Wellness Comes Naturally in Greenville, South Carolina
Strolling through downtown Greenville, South Carolina, it’s easy to see why the city ranks high among the best places to live in the United States: Shops, restaurants and coffee bars line the streets; there are also performance venues, hotels and outdoor plazas. But what really sets this upstate city of just more than 78,000 residents apart are the easily accessible parks and walking trails encouraging both residents and visitors to explore the city by foot or cycle (both handcycles and adaptive bikes are available to rent). Even better, as Greenville continues to grow, city planners and major employers work together to expand these opportunities. When Greenville’s Swamp Rabbit Trail, for instance, opened in 2009, the paved, multiuse pathway ran about 9 miles from the heart of Greenville to the town of Traveler’s Rest.
