Held since 1873, the Latvian Song and Dance Festival is held in Riga, drawing nearly 500,000 people to celebrate Latvian culture and life. The festival is part of the UNESCO Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity list. About 40,000 performers participate in the event, from folk songs to choir music to modern songs.
