Market 57

The James Beard Foundation recently debuted this massive food hall within Pier 57. Here, local chefs draw visitors and locals alike to try dishes across more than a dozen kiosks. Dining outlets include women-owned businesses, pop-up concepts and creations like The Galley. Choose from dining establishments like Ammi, serving Indian homestyle cuisine; Bessou, a kiosk offering Japanese cuisine and Karaage; Lolo’s on the Water, a Caribbean seafood outlet; and Zaab Zaab, a space serving Northeastern Thai fishes. Unique to Market 57 is PLATFORM by the James Beard Foundation, a showcase kitchen and educational space where rotating chefs in residence put on exciting cooking demonstrations, collaborative dinners, and free and ticketed events. The Wesley

One of New York City’s newest plant-forward restaurants, in the West Village, launches a new brunch service under Chef Santiago Astudillo. The brunch service, available Saturday (11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.) and Sunday (11:30 a.m.–4 p.m.), sees brunch-specific dishes ready to delight diners. Highlights include shakshuka with red pepper, artichoke and okra; mezze for two with harissa coconut crema, charred eggplant hummus and sourdough; buckwheat pancakes with cinnamon, maple and coconut lemon curd; and a bison burger with charred onion, avocado and jalapeno emulsion. No brunch is complete without a cocktail, and The Wesley’s new Melon of Troy features salted cantaloupe cordial and cava rose. Other brunch drinks include Verde Maria (tequila, tomatillo, cactus, apple and green chili), Wabbit Season (carrot, mezcal, cardamom and vino sherry) and Shrub 310 (seasonal fruit, black tea, apple vinegar and club soda).
