Norway welcomes three new boutique hotels, each epitomizing Norwegian luxury and charm.
Opened in June, Beckerwyc House sits on top of a hill by Bekkjarvik Harbor, just outside of Bergen. Surrounded by green areas, this hotel features 20 rooms and suites, half of them with their own patios for optimal views of the region. Designed by Ajas Mellbye and opened by Chef Ørjan Johannessen, Beckerwyc House incorporates many local features, including a façade resembling a fish hatchery and rock formations.

The outdoor area of Beckerwyc House boasts a lounge and Jacuzzi, while the top floor is entirely dedicated to food and drink experiences. For private dining, guests can book a separate space for a more intimate experience, as well as for groups and meetings. And, this November, the hotel debuts the exclusive Mirabelle restaurant with its signature “Island Gastronomy.”
Elva Hotel also graces Norway, situated in the fjords in the west of the country. Also opened this June, Elva hotel blends contemporary design with awe-inspiring nature. Ideal for small groups of active friends and families, this 14-room hotel sits on the banks of a river, with each guestroom named after the rivers in the hub of Voss. The hotel also features five cottages with views of the lake, forests and mountains.

Guestrooms and public spaces combine innovative sustainability practices with luxurious comfort. Guests of the hotel also enjoy unique culinary experiences with a strong emphasis on fine dining, in which locally sourced ingredients are top priority. Elva Hotel sits about 230 miles northwest of Oslo.
And for travelers seeking the unexpected, Norway’s new Manshausen Seaside Towers offer just that. Built directly on the rocky coast of the remote island of Manshausen in Steigen, each of the two brand-new towers offers unbeatable views overlooking mountains and sea. Sixteen buildings can be found on Manshausen, seven of which are sea cabins, as well as a main house, restaurant, library and boathouse with conference facilities.

Other on-site facilities include a hot tub and sauna, living quarters for Manshausen’s host couple and a service building. Part of the Ionian Islands located off the western coast of Greece and Albania, it boasts a storied history dating back nearly 3,000 years and a heritage shaped by many foreign rulers who made it their own.

May 14, 2025Hotel Van Zandt Review
One step onto Austin’s Rainey Street and you’ll feel like you’ve joined the cool kids at the best playground in the city. Just behind the cottage bars, pint-sized skyscrapers soar. One of them, Hotel Van Zandt, the Rainey district's pièce de resistance, beckons with a song-like spirit —apropos because the independently owned property, rife with music motifs, was named after beloved singer-songwriter Townes Van Zandt. Sixteen stories high, the hotel embodies Austin’s lust for music, manifesting with a vinyl corner; trumpet chandeliers; myriad musical references; replica vintage posters in frames; and its own live music venue, which doubles as its acclaimed restaurant, Geraldine’s. Don’t miss the mesmerizing installation of colorful origami-like birds composed from vinyl records that flitter from an old phonograph.
