In the town of Wépion in the Wallonia region on Belgium, the Musée de la Fraise (Strawberry Museum) offers five exhibition rooms all celebrating the art and innovation involved in producing strawberries. Guided visits are available, and there’s a charming boutique filled to the brim with regional products made from the area’s revered local berries — including strawberry beer.
The flower theme continues with art. Nicknamed “The Raphael of Flowers” for his special prowess depicting roses, Pierre-Joseph Redouté has an entire museum dedicated to him. Located in Saint-Hubert, the Pierre-Joseph Redouté Museum contains many of the artist’s original watercolor paintings, prints and other objects. There are also etchings from Redouté’s work Description of Egypt. The museum is open by appointment until July, then open daily from 2–6 p.m. Afterward, be sure to visit the gardens of the Roseraie on Avenue des Chasseurs Ardennais to enjoy the mingled perfume of 50 rose varieties.
